Our Story

Our story began when Dr June Keyte founded the choir 30 years ago alongside her husband Christopher. The choir went from strength to strength, at one stage numbering over 100 members from the ages of 4-20.

June was involved with music all her life, working predominantly in the London Borough of Enfield forming the Kingswood Singers, who were invited by the BBC to be the resident choir in the schools music programmes 'Singing Together' and 'Time and Tune' for over 20 years. Christopher was a baritone soloist, performing internationally and singing with the Royal Opera House chorus for over 15 years.

In 2020, June sadly passed away.

The choir now moves into a new phase under the leadership of Laurence Williams. Christopher remains our treasurer and welcome guide!

A reflection from June & Christopher Keyte

“We loved directing Children’s Voices all those years and we are delighted to have kept in touch with so many Alumni, as well as welcoming the youngest singers, joining us from around the age of 4!

Our particular delight has been the opportunities for conducting and accompanying that we have been able to offer to Choristers through the years, many of whom have gone on to enjoy music later in life.

Our greatest gratitude is due to Dr John Rutter CBE, who has been our patron and dear friend throughout the whole of our 30 years. John has been a huge inspiration to all our choristers.”
